| Bio: | Character Name: Mion Sonozaki. Series: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Gender: Female. Age: 17 years old. Species: Human. Sexuality: Bisexual. Appearance: Although she always felt taller than most of her friends, Mion is in fact just a bit above the average height for a girl her age, standing around 5'6" or possibly 5'7". She has long green hair, which reaches down to around the middle of her back when down, though she usually kepts it held back in a ponytail, and out of her face/eyes. She had green eyes, a shade very close to her hair color. She has somewhat pale skin, and she is somewhat slender, with a rather lithe frame, but with good tone to most of her muscles, from all of the time that she used to spend running around with her 'club'. Though she doesn't appear incredibly strong at first glance, when she is in a state of panic [or worse yet, she or her sister are provoked or threatened], she easily reveals herself to be much stronger and resolute than she appears in the beginning of matters. Personality: On the outside, it seems Mion has a rather tomboyish personality; snarky, playful and energetic, with a dash of mischief. She is brave, and doesn't back down from an adventure or a challenge, and is often the 'ring leader' of her group of friends. She herself often states that she wonders how she wasn't born a boy, anyway. This, however, is simply a facade for a feminine side that she keeps guarded from her friends and others. Her girly side is no something she is open about, though Shion does know of it's existence, the younger sister being a sympathetic ear when Mion complains that Keiichi does not seem to see her as a girl. Mion has got a good and responsible head on her shoulders, even if she is playful and adventureous, good enough to be class president and take on the responsibilities of the Sonozaki family heir anyway, which has naturally given her a less than relaxing life style. She is fairly open with her friends, and hardly shy or timid in their presence, and cares a lot about them, willing to go to great lengths to look out for them and take care of them. Mion loves games, contests and competitions and is incredibly good at them, with a very healthy competitive spirit on top of that. Always, Mion plays to win, and she isn't afraid to take extreme measures to guarantee her own success; marking playing cards and memorizing each and every marking, making her able to read the hand of anyone she's playing as if the cards were facing her, for example. Even without these helpful hints in games, Mion is very skilled, having a good eye and good hand eye coordination as well as speed. Though she and her sister seem to be each other's leaning shoulder, when it comes to talking out issues in private, Mion will sometimes exacerbate some of the things she says about her sister, to her friends, giving the impression they really don't get along that well, even when they do. However, it may be perhaps that Mion's own jealous side simply shows through in those moments, leaving the elder twin worried that her friends may end up liking Shion better.. particularly one Maebara Keiichi. Mion does not show her jealous side often, but Keiichi seems to be a different story in many ways. The only time Mion seems to show her shy or timid side, is in front of Keiichi; usually from some situation they have ended up in, or an action he has taken, to make her embarassed as such. Her feelings for Keiichi are strong, though that is one thing she does not seem particularly open about it, and it can occasionally lead to awkward or embarassing moments for her, as well as good natured teasing from her friends. Of course, that is typical every-day Mion. And I'm pulling Mion from a much more traumatizing event in [just one of many] history. Though with time and friendship, Mion /will/ return to the smiling happy personality that I have described here, the Mion who first appears in Manhattan will be nervous, terrified, and basically a paranoid emotional mess who wants nothing to do with the beloved sister I keep mentioning so much. I will explain why further in her history. Abilities: Mion is rather athletic, and incredibly sharp. She is one of the most skilled members if their game club, at both actual gameplay and cheating. She has no trouble thinking up complex plans and ideas, and that is what makes her a good leader. The fact that she has spent all of her life being raised to be the leader of a crime family also helps in the sharp leadership quality department. Other than that, however, Mion is really just a normal teenage girl. She bleeds just like the rest of us. Weaknesses: Though she was trained to be stoic and callous, as the leader of the Sonozakis, it never quite happened. Thus, the biggest weakness for her is that Mion is willing to risk everything for her friends. They are the most important thing to her, other than her sister, and she is willing to put her life and neck on the line for them, any time of the day. Naturally, this gets her into quite a bit of trouble. Also, she is also normally pretty strong and athletic, but when she first arrives in the city, she will be jittery and weak, until she gets nursed back into proper health. Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider. History: Mion Sonozaki comes from the village of Hinamizawa, in Japan. The small village is located in the country, near forestry and greenery as far as the eye can see, and has a population of approximately two thousand. The attitude of the whole town seems rather casual and laid back, not to mention rural. Her family, the Sonozaki family, is one of the 'Three Great Houses' of Hinamizawa. These Three Great Houses have connections to the original roots of the village; it's origins, it's deity, and it's supposed curse.. though Mion seems to know a little less about some of the affairs than the supposed heir to the Sonozaki should. It it said 'Oyashiro-sama', the local god, will protect and look out for the Three Great Houses. The Sonozakis are a yakuza family, and with how important they are to the village, it makes Mion not only the heiress to the yakuza family, but practically to all of Hinamizawa, thus making Mion herself very important indeed, though you perhaps would not know it with her personality and normally casual attitude. She attends the meetings of the Three Great Houses, and lives with her grandmother (the current head of the Sonozaki family), often acting as her grandmother's representative, and doing always as her family asks, to prove herself to her family, and prove 'distinction' as their next leader. However, one main part of becoming Sonozaki heir, which is kept somewhat quiet, requires the heir in question to become a "demon", per se. This means that both Mion's name and body have 'demons' in them, the demon in her name being in the kanji for "mi" (魅) and the demon on her body being a tattoo which covers over the majority of her back. In addition to her grandmother, Mion has a mother and father, but she is also the first born of two identical twin girls; her younger sister named Shion. As the first born of the two, that made Mion heiress to the entire Sonozaki family, while Shion's very existence seemed to be frowned upon by their family; making the girl shunned, while Mion was held to glory. Shion was sent to live with their mother's righthand bodyguard, Kasai, while Mion was raised by her grandmother, to become the next head of the family. Mion's relationship with her sister is a somewhat curious one. Their personalities are very different, even if their appearance is identical; the girls having switched places easily in the past, without a hitch. It seems that they get along, and quite enjoy each other's company although they have been separated most of their lives; Mion always living with their grandmother, and Shion attending school at either a private all-girls academy, or living with Kasai in the town of Okinomiya, which neighbours Hinamizawa. Recently, Shion has come to stay in Hinamizawa, to 'look after' one Houjou Satoko, as per the request of Houjou Satoshi, Satoko's elder brother, whom went missing about one year ago, and whom Shion was rather fond of. At school, Mion is the class president, as well as the president of the after-school game club that she had formed with Rena Ryuugu, Rika Furude, Satoko Houjo, Satoshi Houjou, and now, Keiichi Maebara and Shion Sonozaki. The club consists mostly of card games, and board games, with 'punishment games' for the losers, decided upon by the winners. It all sounds very quaint and friendly, yes, but that isn't at all the case. For a reason that isn't quite explained, the village of Hinamizawa is cursed. The villagers of Hinamizawa have a syndrome, called simply 'Hinamizawa syndrome'. It is caused by a parasite within them. When they leave the village for too long of a time, they become violent, paranoid, and insane, often lashing out at others around them. The syndrome is rated by 'levels', which go from one to five; one being no symptoms, and five being the worst. Not to mention the fact that Mion and her friends are also caught in a curse of their own, called the 'Endless June'. It occurs during the week of the Watanagashi [cotton drifting festival], and usually ends with all of them succumbing to the paranoia of the syndrome, and dying, usually at the hands of each other. Only to start all over again. The only problem seems to be that the only one remembering the months of 'Endless June' that come with every Watanagashi festival, is Rika Furude. Mion and her other friends are doomed to begin their 'Endless June' over and over again, remembering nothing about their past.. Except for this one time, of course. Where I am taking Mion from takes place in June, of course. In this particular June, after discovering that her family is involved with the murder and disappearance of her closest friend, Satoshi Houjou, Shion Sonozaki takes matters into her own hands. Falling into insanity, after being put through hell and back by her parents, grandmother, and other village officials, Shion seeks vengeance upon those who have wronged her. Shion and Mion have switched places for years, and so kidnapping her sister and taking her place is no problem; Shion locks Mion in an underground facility beneath their family's main home. Here, Mion stays imprisoned for days, while her sister poses as her in her place, lapsing further into insanity, and tricking her friends into her vicious games. Mion stays locked up and alone, behind bars, in a small stone cavern. She is dressed only in a simple white slip, and isn't fed, nor tended to. No one knows of her whereabouts, except for Shion, since the younger sister also killed their parents and grandmother, as well as the village's leader, Mister Kimiyoshi. After several days of incarceration, Shion finally brings Houjou Satoko into the dungeon that their family has been hiding. Mion watches, and begs for mercy, as Shion repeatedly stabs and kills their friend, before Mion's very eyes. Next, Shion brings Keiichi Maebara into the dungeon, posing again as Mion, and luring him within. It seems that things might finally work out, when Keiichi sees Mion [think, of course, that she is 'Shion'], and tries to rescue her. However, Shion strikes him over the head with a large rock, and ends up torturing him as well, in front of Mion's eyes. While Rena Ryuugu is gone to get help for her missing friends, that is when Shion finally decides to deal with her sister. Finally entering the prison, Shion approaches Mion, who backs away, screaming in terror. Using her trusty taser on her sibling, Shion Sonozaki immobilizes her sister, before tossing Mion's body into a well, which supposedly 'has no bottom'. A familiar place for the Sonozaki family to dispose of the bodies of their enemies. Though, as far as the village knows, the well is simply a rumor. Mion joins Satoko, Satoshi, and Rika in death, at the bottom of this well. At least, that was what was supposed to happen. Instead of dying at the bottom of that well, Mion Sonozaki awakens in the middle of a destroyed city street, understandably terrified and completely out of sorts. And with one thought in her mind: getting away from Shion. | |||||
